Kiln Firing

In the spring of 2006 we decided to build a wood fired kiln.  The design was copied from another local potter and professor at the local college.

Date: 01/01/2007

We leveled out an area and poured a concrete slab so there was a level area to work on.  The kiln required nearly two thousand fire bricks to construct.  The kiln is approximately 13 feet long by 3 feet wide and 3 feet 6 inches tall.  The chimney is 8 feet high.  The kiln is built by simply stacking the fire bricks dry (without mortar).
